2021 Haiti Earthquake

At 8:29:09 a.m. EDT on 14 August 2021, a magnitude 7.2 earthquake struck the Tiburon Peninsula in the Caribbean nation of Haiti on the island of Hispaniola. It had a 10-kilometre (6.2 mi; 5.4 nmi)-deep hypocenter near Petit-Trou-de-Nippes, approximately 150 kilometres (93 mi; 81 nmi) west of the capital, Port-au-Prince. It spawned tsunami warnings for the Haitian coast, which were lifted shortly after.The US Geological Survey estimates "high casualties" and widespread disaster; with the dead currently estimated at 724, it is the deadliest earthquake of 2021 so far.
