New Translation of Dorotheus of Sidon 1 by Ben Hi Skyscripters, I wanted to let you know that my new translation of Dorotheus (from the Arabic manuscripts) is complete and available now at www.bendykes.com/carmen.php! Dorotheus of Sidon (1st Century) wrote one of the most influential works in traditional astrology, which affected astrologers for many centuries; many texts by later astrologers can be traced back to him. His Greek work was translated into Persian and then Arabic, and this is from 'Umar al-Tabari's Arabic translation of the Persian. In 1976 David Pingree published the first translation, but many people agree it is hard to read and understand. This edition has numerous mini-essays, explanations, diagrams, and a detailed index, and I think you'll find it much more readable!
