The Nakshatras and Historical Ages 1 by Mark In modern western astrology the idea of astrological ages based on the precession of the equinoxes through the sidereal zodiac (either equal or constellational) remains a popular idea. The idea seems to have first been formulated in Theosophical circles in the late 19th century as the movement was exposed to western and Indian perspectives on the zodiac. However, the idea took on much greater public recognition in the late 1960's when the American pop band The 5th Dimension released the hit single 'The Age of Aquarius' . The song was part of the highly successful musical 'Hair'. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kjxSCAalsBE In many ways the song was symptomatic of the crest of a wave of an astrology revival throughout the west from the late 1960s. This period also saw Linda Goodman's book Sun Signs become an international best seller. The rest as they say is history... However, my question here isn't about The Age of Aquarius! What I am really curious about is whether anyone has tracked the precession of the equinoxes through the Nakshatras and padas to explain historical shifts in the same way? Does anyone know of any books or articles on this? 2 by Mark In seeking to answer my own question I have found this link by the American Vedic astrologer Renay Oshop which seeks to connect historical developments and the precession of the equinoxes through the ages. http://www.ayurastro.com/articles/naksh ... of-history If anyone is aware of any other research on this topic I would be very interested in any links or references you have.
