Ned Stark 9/1

5th Cusp opposite Algol.

Ned Stark, the fictional Game of Thrones character played by the excellent historical and fantasy bad-ass Sean Bean, himself a famous Blades supporter (Sheffield United), is known in the books for beheading Black Watch deserters and having his own head inconjunct his shoulders by the end of the first series.

Theatre Guide 16/1 - 5th Conjunct Saturn in 5th, Lord 7 and bags Mercury.

Faugheen is favorite for this race with The New One 2nd favorite.

Faugheen - 5th cusp square to 7th Neptune. By typing "Faugheen' into Dictionary.com, it annoyingly asks you if you meant 'Fagin'. Fagin was a fictional character from Charles Dickin's Oliver Twist, a villianous old man who teaches children how to pickpockets and commit other forms of crime. What is interesting here is that we find Mercury, close to the 7th cusp. A gnarled old Irish friend of mine, who still has a few of his own teeth and speaks some Gaelic, assures me that 'Faugheen' would be a fairly close translation into Gaelic of 'Fagin'.

The New One is shown by the 5th making a trine to Mars and his antisicion at 15? Virgo 47' - sextiling both Jupiter and his antisicion at 16 Taurus 7' - applying to the 10th cusp.

A reverse forecast on these two begets 11/4 - ?10 returns ?37.50.

Longshot bet - Vaniteux each way 25/1

However, the most interesting bet in this race is for Vaniteux - a word for vainglory, narcissism, conceitedness and self-love.

The 5th makes square to the antiscion of Venus, herself not in the best of conditions in Aries, at 8? Virgo 14' in the 1st house and also trines the MC 8? Taurus 17'.

Mars is the strongest planet for all today's Cheltenham races. It rules the 4th and 9th houses until 16:00 when it then rules the 3rd and 8th houses.
If it's not astronomically true, it's not astrologically true.

There's a very Mars themed race in Wolverhampton at 20:15:

5th cusp 14? Aqu 04' sextiles Mars 14? Aries 22', conjunct 7th cusp; applying to Pluto in 3rd on IC. Mars into the underworld, as legend has it.

A Scent of Power (15/2) and Indomitable Spirit (10/1) reverse forecast.
