Affliction Questions 1 by j0e Hi, I have two affliction questions for horary astrology if experts do not mind answering. Question 1: If the South Node is at 27 degrees Aries Retrograde, and Venus is at 2 degrees Taurus direct (separating from the South Node), is Venus afflicted by the South Node? The date would be May 31, 2014. Question 2: Right now, Jupiter is at 16 degrees Leo. And Saturn is at 20 degrees Scorpio. If you advance the chart, Jupiter doesn't perfect a square with Saturn. Saturn goes into Sagittarius and Jupiter goes retrograde. Is Jupiter afflicted by Saturn? Thanks! Joe Quote Sun Oct 05, 2014 1:56 pm

Hi, jOe! Not many astrologers include nodes in their horary readings but if, for any reason, you think that it is important to determine whether the presence of a node close to a relevant planet has any special meaning or influence, I would say that you need to check he accepted orbs. In most cases, astrologers only pay attention to conjunctions with the nodes when they're partile or very tight (1-2 degrees wide). However, you will find astrologers who allow for wider orbs and respect the moiety of the planet approaching the Moon (often reduced by a few degrees if the planets are, like in your case, in different signs). Personally, if would label this application as outside the orb. Right now, Jupiter is at 16 degrees Leo. And Saturn is at 20 degrees Scorpio. If you advance the chart, Jupiter doesn't perfect a square with Saturn. Saturn goes into Sagittarius and Jupiter goes retrograde. Is Jupiter afflicted by Saturn? This is a form of prohibition rather than affliction. Two forms actually: evasion and refranation. You can read more about the forms of perfection and denial of perfection in this article>>> Six types of denial of perfection Cheers, aglaya Quote Sun Oct 05, 2014 4:22 pm
Re: Affliction Questions 3 by j0e Hi aglaya, Thanks for responding! Regarding the Second Question, let me get more specific. My question was about whether my business partner will pay me back. 1st house is Leo. 8th house is Pisces. Jupiter is conjunct/just above the Ascendant by a little over a degree (I'm assuming Jupiter is considered to be in the 1st, and not the 12th). Jupiter is approaching a square to Saturn, but never will square Saturn. So what's going to happen? Will it look like my business partner will not pay me back, but then ultimately does? Or, is Jupiter somehow afflicted by Saturn, and I will not get paid back? Thanks, Joe Quote Tue Oct 07, 2014 11:06 am

Thanks, Joe I would say that mutual reception or a lack thereof are most likely to show whether your partner is keen to give you the money back. More so because the planets are brought together by a stressful aspect (a square actually promises a tension unless reception can sort the things out somehow). But, basically, if you consider the influence of Saturn as a negative activity then, obviously, the fact that one of the planets decides not to perfect the aspect could mean avoiding the damage (I don't know which of the two planets rules your business partner but I gather that you get the picture). On the other hand, if you decide to examine this approaching aspect as a form of negotiation or,even more directly - the payback then one of the planets changing direction could mean that someone is about to change their mind and not give you your money back. This way or the other, the activity promised by the applying aspect cannot happen. I hope this makes sense! I'm assuming Jupiter is considered to be in the 1st, and not the 12th I would consider it a 1st house planet, myself. Yes. Cheers, aglaya Quote Tue Oct 07, 2014 3:52 pm
5 by cosmicdolphin HI I would pay attention as Aglaya said when Nodes are conj a significator or an angle 1-2 deg of an orb. Question 2. Mars is about to trine Jupiter. Therefore, Mars cuts off the light with Saturn. Saturn and Jupiter do not perfect the square because Jupiter goes retrograde. It is an interference. CD Quote Wed Oct 08, 2014 2:17 am
6 by j0e Thank you aglaya and cosmicdolphin for your responses! I was actually wondering about the 7th being my business partner. And the 8th being my business partner's money (even though the issue is about me being paid back). And since there's not really a 1st - 7th connection, I was wondering with the ruler of the 8th being in the 1st, I was thinking that he would pay me back. But I don't know. So I guess I should ask, what house would rule a business partner? And if the 7th rules the business partner, what about 2nd 8th connections, or 1st 8th connections? Or is that a stretch? 7 by cosmicdolphin hi could you post the chart please? The way I am seeing and I COULD BE wrong, usually, when you are asking questions that do not have you involved in the question remove yourself entirely. so use your husband as L7/L8 (his money) and L1/L2 (partner and partner's money). cheers CD Quote Thu Oct 09, 2014 1:39 am
