Thanks Fleur,
I put together a chart for the epicentre coordinates but it was so close to the one you displayed it didn't seem worth bothering. In any case I usually find event charts for earthquakes a bit meaningless.
I think the Aries Ingress and lunation chart for Kathmandu were more interesting.
We see the ASC ruler Saturn Rx is prominently on the MC. It dominates the night sky where it is the malefic out of sect. Saturn is conjunct the malefic fixed star Graffias, (aka Acrab] which is in the head of the constellation of Scorpius.
Ptolemy makes the following observations: "The bright stars in the front of the body of Scorpio have an effect similar to that produced by the influence of Mars, and partly to that produced by Saturn''
Traditionally stars of a Mars-Saturn nature are the most malefic and potentially destructive.
There is an especially, heavy concentration of Mars energy in this Aries ingress with the Moon, Mars, Venus , Uranus and South Node all disposited by Mars.
The pre-lunation chart has Mercury on the IC , conjunct a debilitated Mars in Taurus in detriment in the 4th house. It is square Jupiter.

I found a date for the Nepal chart as 9th January 1767, 12.01pm, source Astrotheme.
Seems also the Republic of Nepal was declared on 28th May 2008 at 11.25pm.
The antiscia of Mars, 20 degrees Virgo 01 minutes, and Pluto, 20 degrees Sagittarius 06 minutes, were triggered by transiting Chiron, Moon's Nodes and Phaethon in the earthquake chart. Also IsisTranspluto is 21 degrees Pisces 26 minutes, directly triggered by current transits.
There surely has to be something Plutonic about an earthquake? (And involving Neptune if there is a tsunami?) Nepal has just had a Pluto return.

For comparison I am looking at the chart for the 1934 Nepal-Bihar earthquake, which occurred on 15th January 1934 at 2.13pm IST (08.43 UTC), with its epicentre at 27.55 degrees North and 87.09 degrees East.
This was eastern Nepal, about 10km south of Mount Everest.
I am not sure if this should be considered to have primarily happened in India or Nepal. Obviously the transits hit the Ascendant of the Nepal chart, but I suspect they primarily refer to India, and wonder if there is an earlier chart for India available than the 1947 independence chart? |

Thankyou Fleur and Mark for your thoughtful input. The event chart is what I would call full of stress. Firstly the Moon is void of course( in the house of secret enemies) and the next thing it will do is trine Saturn the greater malefic. The Sun, angular on the m/c, is almost exactly opposite the part of fortune at 0 degrees Scorpio ruled by the lesser malefic Mars, and the fact that Jupiter the great expander or multiplier is on the ascendant doesn't help matters. Compare this to the 9/11 chart when the void of course Moon went to Mars conjunct/opposition nodes. As Lilly said "things do go hardly when the Moon is void of course." |

hi mark, wolfgang and fleur,
thanks for all this, all of you.
wolfgang, i wish i could read your blog post, but it is not my language! i am curious about the software you are using though to generate the 2nd screenshot in your post. thanks... i am glad to see you applying the technique from ben dykes book here. that is impressive. thanks.
on an unrelated note, some of us were trying to figure out the basis from k ernst kraffts predictive method.. if you have some thoughts on this, perhaps you can chime in on the thread that is devoted to this found below. thanks

An earthquake just hit New Zealand. Magnitude 6.0, 30km north west of Wanaka, at 2.29pm local time. It sounds as though nobody was hurt, even though it was a big one. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3066866/New-Zealand-hit-severe-earthquake.html
I wonder if these earthquakes are connected, either geologically or astrologically?
Chart for New Zealand:-
Mars square Pluto stands out.

Another earthquake in Nepal today. The Cancer ingress has Saturn over Nepal as well,so it looks like no end in sight for the poor Nepalese |
