Re: Hadda Index; Profections; & Parts or Lots 2 by Martin Gansten These are all specific T?jika techniques, and the names are Sanskritized Arabic. They entered India some time between the 9th and the 13th century; the earliest preserved text to mention them is probably Samarasi?ha's T?jikatantras?ra (1274?). You won't have an easy time finding that, though (and if you do, please let me know!). For several centuries, the most common introductory text has been N?laka??ha's T?jikan?laka??h?, which has been translated into English several times. (The translations are often quite loose, however, and you may have to try several alternative spellings to find the books.) https://astrology.martingansten.com/ Quote Mon Sep 03, 2012 9:03 am

4 by Martin Gansten I checked a few editions of the T?jikan?laka??h?, and they contain the deviations you mention for Gemini and Sagittarius, but not for Cancer. They also reverse the first two terms (of Mercury and Venus) in Aquarius; but the H?yanaratna, which claims to get its version from the T?jikan?laka??h?, has them 'right'. Obviously this sort of information is very easily corrupted in transmission, which raises the question of how unanimous the Greek and Arabic sources are on the matter of the Egyptian terms. I can't answer that, but perhaps someone on the Traditional forum could. The thing about T?jika astrology in India is that it has mainly been used for annual revolutions (var?aphala) and horary astrology (pra?na). But the annual techniques do include consideration of the natal radix, and the terms (hadda) are used there too. I believe that goes for the Lots (sahama) as well. May I ask which book you are using for the haddas? https://astrology.martingansten.com/ Quote Wed Sep 05, 2012 5:28 am

The H?yanaratna has these terms reversed in the way you mention (but not those of Cancer). Thanks for the information about Behari's book. https://astrology.martingansten.com/ Quote Wed Sep 05, 2012 8:00 am
