Football May 2012

Chelsea FC - Newcastle United, 19:45 BST
Odds: 1,50 4,35 6,50
Asc 6SC38 MC 19LE48 Moon 25VI34 POF 23GE50
Dy ME, Hr MA - radical by sign

Radical by sign, Mars is in mutual reception with Mercury, who is trine the MC. Mars, LHr, is in the same sign as the Moon - the natural significator of Chelsea. No need to doubt the favourites, but at such a poor price... I mean, Newcastle are in great form and are in 5th position and above Chelsea in the League.

I agree Andrew. The chart looked like a clear Chelsea win, so what are we not seeing? If we can work-out what went wrong, we might make some progress :)

The only thing I can see is that Venus (L7 = Newcastle) is closely conjunct the fixed star Bellatrix (a beneficial star) and within a degree of Capella, another beneficial star. Saturn, the colour significator of Newcastle is applying within a degree to Arcturus ans Spica. Both are strongly beneficial.

Mars as L1 was not conjunct any important fixed stars.

If there is anything in this, the Saturn placement might help to explain the recent run of good results by Newcastle.

OK, I'm probably scraping the bottom of the barrel here, but there must be some reason for this very unexpected result. :???:

The only thing I can see is the true draconic position of the infortune Saturn at 19AQ39 that would be opposite the Midheaven and in this way favour the underdog. I don't know whether draconic positions should be introduced in this kind of work. It sort of clutters things up, but as the most exact aspect it is there and I would simply put it on the record for further investigation.

OK, I'm probably scraping the bottom of the barrel here, but there must be some reason for this very unexpected result.
My suggestion is to monitor (throughout the whole season) how Chelsea is playing when the Moon and/or the Sun is in Gemini (unfortunately the season is over when the Sun is in Gemini), Virgo or Capricorn - in bad places for Jupiter, or when the ruler of hour is in Gemini, Virgo or Capricorn, or the dispositor of POF in the same places, or when there is bad reception between the lord of ASC, the lord of hour and Jupiter - Chelsea's significator.

Yesterday we had Scorpio rising and Mars ruling the hour which made the chart radical which usually is an indication for the fave. But Jupiter himself was in the detriment of Mars, in Taurus, but Mars in Virgo, the detriment of Jupiter. Moon also was in Virgo, another testimony against Chelsea.

Let's monitor also how Chelsea plays when the dispositor of Jupiter, dispositor of POF, the lord of hour or the Moon is applying and when separating from Jupiter.

I find very useful Ben Dyke's comments on Arab authors, when he speaks of a separation from a planet as a disregard. If a planet is separating from other (in particular the one who is separating is the dispositor of the other), the one who is separating has lost any interest in one from whom it has separated.

If in a horary separation might function as a transfer of light, in a contest separation takes away the power from the relevant planet and brings it to other (if there is good reception between the sig and the planet to whom the separating planet applies next, it harms nothing but if there is no reception or the one to whom the planet applies next is in detriment or fall of the sig, it is bad news). This is particular true of the Moon; it is good if the Moon is applying and bad if the Moon is separating.

Championship, Playoff
Blackpool-Birmingham, 19.45 BST
Asc 4SC45 MC 18LE49 Moon 25LI13 POF 24TA23
Dy VE, Hr JU - radical by triplicity

The lord of the asc, Mars, is in the same triplicity as Jupiter, lord of the hour. A draw? Well, Jupiter is in the 7th together with the Sun who is lord of the 10th. I would consider this an advantage for the guests. Blackpool are favourites by odds, but Saturn inconjunct POF should move the result away from the favourites. I think my buttons are on B'ham.

Blackpool win 1-0. :???:

That's frustrating. The explaination may be this is a two-legged contest. If B'ham advance then the Moon VOC would indicate that matters were going nowhere. Let's try and catch the return match and then we can summerize. I still wish there was something involving the relationship of the lord of the hour and the radical ascendant that gave a proving testimony.

At least there is an interesting chart for Saturday's game between Arsenal and Norwich:

Arsenal - Norwich, 12.45 BST
Odds: 1,20 6,50 15,50
Asc 24LE49 MC 12TA19 Moon 5SC58 POF 4PI14
Dy Saturn, Hr Mercury - Mercury aspects asc. by trine

Mercury, Lord of the Hour, who is trine the asc. does also cast his antiscia to Mars, L4, in the 1st house, whom he also is in mutual reception with. The Moon in the sign of her detriment casts her antiscia to the descendant.
The bookies don't give Norwich much a change. But the match could still get interesting and we can figure out the details in hindsight.

Arsenal-Norwich 3-3!

What a remarkable result! With the Moon in her fall casting her antiscia to the Des I felt that Norwich may get something out of the game - even though the 0-1 result was 30:1 and priced higher than a 5-0 win to Arsenal! Maybe the Lord of the Hr trine the Asc has plays a part in creating the draw, it would be like a triplicity relationship that shared things around. Apart from this aspect the chart would not be radical in other fashion.

6 goals in one match is still quite spectacular. How could we track that one down? POF is in Pisces. The Moon is in a fruitful sign, too. There is an agreement between the Lord of the Day and the Lord of the Hour. Is there some sort of dispositor prominent in the chart. I'm not quite sure which way to turn but there is room for new ideas.

Here is an all-deciding match on Sunday:

Newcastle - Manchester C, 13.30 BST
Odds: 4,85 3,80 1,72
Asc 3VI36 MC 23TA04 Moon 21SC40 POF 8PI54
Day Sun, Hour Mars - Mars in the 1st house mr with Mercury

The Moon is just coming off her opposition to Jupiter, L7. Jupiter is combust the Sun. The Moon in her fall is hanging on the IC for the underdog, and Neptune is hanging on the descendant of the guests.
POF in Pisces is not far off Chiron, that may tear the favourite apart.
The chart appears to be interesting for Newcastle. :???:

To make matters worse, guests L7 Jupiter is conjunct Algol maybe a pointer to City losing their heads at the final hurdle? I would just love that!:-T This is a good test of whether to use home team or favourites as L1 ruler, the problem is how do we use the home team system at the Euro's or Olympics?

As far as degree interpretation goes, Jup 22 - A blindfolded woman who sees the future. suggests uncertainty and confusion in reaching a firm conclusion, a cloud of mystery that only disperses in the final moments.
