Mercury, Mars, Saturn retrograde

Norway's worst road?

While Mercury, Mars and Saturn all are retrograde, one of Norway's leading newspapers, VG, have invited readers to send in their pictures in a contest to chose Norway's worst road. With Mercury, Mars and Saturn all retrograde the competition is quite timely. Here is one of the worst examples;

Norwegian's have difficult conditions for roadmaking due to extreme temperature changes in the ground. When the frost recedes during Spring, all sorts of bumps and holes appear. In addition to tracks, almost like canals in the road due to winter studded tyres.

Played Borat instead of National Anthem

Mercury, Mars, Saturn retrograde - drop a clanger on official toes. Ouch! :-sk

The Gold medal winner from Kazakhstan, Maria Dmitrijenko, held her mask during the medal cermony at an international shooting competition in Kuwait this week. Unknowingly, arrangers had downloaded a controversial parody of the song from Youtube. If you are looking the "Kazakh National Anthem" on YouTube, then a spoof version of the British comedian Sasha Baron Cohen, known as Borat, comes up as top result.

The first and second verse of Borat's song:

Kazakhstan greatest country in the world.
All other countries are run by little girls.
Kazakhstan number one exporter of potassium.
Other countries have inferior potassium.

Kazakhstan home of Tinshein swimming pool.
It?s length thirty meter and width six meter.
Filtration system a marvel to behold.
It removes 80 percent of human solid waste.

The day after the medal ceremony organizers hung up three Kazakh flags and played the "real" national anthem to try dampen tensions. But it didn't help much. The Kazakh Foreign Ministry has required an official apology from Kuwait.

Retrograde planets, Mercury in particular, occur together with blips and mistakes in communication. It sounds as if three retrograde planets had a ball on this one, and more than one unfortunate official had their scorecards stapled.

Invisible Tape

The Norwegian Newspaper VG has a weekly column probably dedicated to Mercury retrograde. It is called 'This Weeks Sign posts'. In all simplicity it shows funny, misprinted or erronous sign posts captured by the readers, locally or from all over the World.
