Guardian blogs and our inability to communicate to scientist

Science marches forward everyday. Recently there is news about something faster than the speed of light. This alleged discovery is yet to be confirmed. As for the "scientific" explanation of how astrology works - that may be far in the future - or maybe not at all. I am reminded of a scene in the movie and book, Zorba the Greek.
Zorbas friend has just died and he asks his bookworm friend:
"Why do people have to die?
"I don't know," his friend replies.
'Well, all those damned books you read--what good are they? Why do you read them? If they don't tell you that, what do they tell you?'"
"They tell me about the agony of men who cannot answer questions like yours."
