Brazil- Rio De Janeiro 1 by Mark The Brazilian government have sent in the Military to help quell violence from drug gangs in shanty towns in and around Rio De Janeiro. Criminals have burned more than 96 vehicles. Three police officers have been injured, according state military police. About 800 soldiers have been dispatched to the city to protect the perimeter of the areas occupied by police, the state-run Agencia Brasil reported. The military will control all entry points into some slums, the news agency said, citing Roberto Sa, a state security The offensive comes after five days of clashes which have killed at least 30 people. Eight people of those were killed in Thursday's push, authorities said. In response to the police operation gangs have been setting up barricades, burning vehicles and opening fire, officials said.Officials said that drug traffickers had regrouped in Vila Cruzeiro after being expelled from other shanty towns in the city. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-latin-america-11838472 http://edition.cnn.com/2010/WORLD/ameri ... google_cnn Does anyone know when the violence first broke out last Sunday? 2 by PFN Hello Mark, the "violence wave" began saturday, 20-11-2010, 23:15h, and then escalated (at least according to the following news site http://noticias.r7.com/rio-de-janeiro/n ... 01126.html) I think that we could also refer to the Libra ingress chart for the elections, that I posted on the link: http://skyscript.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=5276 I believe that the situation tends to get worse. Looking at the Capricorn ingress, we see the Moon opposing Mars almost partill. Last edited by PFN on Fri Nov 26, 2010 8:11 pm, edited 1 time in total.
