Jupiter hit by unknown object

1
Jupiter was hit by an unknown celestial object on Thursday 3. June 2010 time 21.21 GMT. If the object had collided with planet Earth, it is likely to have wiped out our civilisation, says Norwegian astronomer R?ed ?degarrd.

I would simply like to comment that Jupiter is in the 30th degree of Pisces in a traditional geocentric chart at 29PI40 and conjunct the fixed star Sheat at 29PI33.

That's is indeed a curious happening (after the loss of a stripe, there comes an unknown object towards him). I hope we can still count on him after such disastrous events.

PS: if I had to suspect someone I'd blame Saturn, since Jupiter has been opposing him for some time. The fiend planned an atack of epic proportions :brows and succeded...

Thanks Andrew,

Interesting. Here is a report of the impact from an English language news agency:

http://www.foxnews.com/scitech/2010/06/ ... s-jupiter/

Odd they are reporting the impact time as 20.31 GMT!
The new Jupiter crash occurred on June 3 at 20:31 UT (4:31 p.m. Eastern Time) and was spotted by skywatcher Anthony Wesley in Australia and fellow amateur astronomer Christopher Go in the Philippines.
Still, its not going to make that much difference from an earth centred perpective! Actually, I wonder if this might be an instance where Heliocentric astrology might have a role? Its not something I know much about.

This news comes in the same week that we discovered that the last impact with Jupiter (which was much more dramatic) last July was probably caused by an Asteroid.

More famously there was the impact of Comet Shoemaker-Levy 9 in July 1994. It might be interesting to compare these separate events.

Jupiter lives up to its benefic reputation quite literally by protecting the earth from numerous impacts from comets or asteroids. Indeed some astronomers call it the 'vacuum cleaner' of the solar system.

Hello

The Afterposten link is now giving 22:31 as the time in Norway so they've presumably updated it:
Torsdag kveld kl. 22.31 norsk tid ble kjempeplaneten Jupiter truffet av et annet himmellegeme.

Sorry folks!
No need as you pointed the story out which is the main thing. Its not as if the angles of these charts will matter much!

I couldn't find any real fixed star link for Jupiter at the time of the Comet Shoemaker Levy 9 impact in 1994. It was located at 5 Scorpio then. There was a close Sun-Uranus opposition and a trine to Pluto on the date of the first impact (the Comet broke into pieces and impacted over 6 days). Jupiter was applying in trine to Saturn ( 11 Pisces) while the Moon was in close conjunction to Jupiter in Scorpio. Mercury was in trine to Moon/Jupiter and in sextile to Venus. Neptune had separated from an opposition to the Sun two days previously.

I could display the Jupiter impact charts for the current and previous incidents on record if anyone is interested? However, I am only going to bother if other people are interested in seeing them. :?:

In which case the conjunction between the Earth and Saturn is certain to capture someone's attention.
Thanks Andrew
