The September 2009 New Moon 1 by ### When I'm in the mood for mundane astrology (I'm not much more than a dabbler) I like to look at Sun ingress and lunation charts. I can't warm up to the idea of national charts. So what do we do with the upcoming New Moon chart for Sept. 18, '09? It looks exciting enough: ? Sun and Moon at 25 VIR 59. ? Saturn at 25 VIR 07. ? Their dispositor, Mercury, at 29 VIR 20 and heading right toward them all in its retrograde motion. It looks potentially quite exciting. Especially with the Uranus opposition. ? But Mercury is retrograde and combust ? getting combuster [it works for me]. A weak Mercury. ? Saturn is peregrine and combust. Not a strong Saturn for causing problems. ? Moon is swallowed up in the Sun and needs to be 12 or 15 degrees away to regain its strength. ? Sun is a peregrine so-so in Virgo. But it's late Virgo, summer is fading (up north, anyway) and the Sun is ready to 'fall' in Libra. A fading summer reflects a fading Sun. Symbolically the Sun is heading toward its subdued half of the year. The Sun in mutable, cold and dry Virgo just doesn't seem very interesting ? or interested in doing much, or able to do it. Is there really much excitement to be found here? Is any planet particularly strong? I suppose the Sun will be stronger by sect above the horizon for locations with a diurnal New Moon chart, especially those with a 11th or 10th house placement. But overall it just looks like a heap of burnt, confused and tired planets. An upcoming mutable month of things falling apart? Quote Wed Sep 16, 2009 10:10 pm
2 by CJ If it's to be treated as equivalent to a lunar return then one should look at the ingress chart (as Abu mashar also did for the equinox). Only the ancients were somewhat narrow-minded and only considered their own locale. The question then becomes where is the dominant influence. I tend to see mundane mostly in terms of politics. With astrocartography Saturn is in the fourth quadrant (both rising and visible) over western US so there might be a conservative surge (but maybe not very strong due to the combustion). 3 by ### Hi CJ, It's hard to know if that combust peregrine Saturn will be able to do much. India looks interesting with the IC of the lunation chart for New Delhi at 25 VIR 44. That puts Sun, Moon and Saturn exactly on it with L4 Mercury close by. The Aries and Cancer ingress charts both had Virgo rising with Saturn conjunct the Asc. Degree, so it looks like a Saturn-Virgo theme for India this year. Quote Thu Sep 17, 2009 8:45 pm
