Primary directions and universal significators

1
Almost all sources seem to direct only by universal signification, e.g. the sun for fame, father, etc.

but, of course, MOrinus is against it. In book 22, page 12, he complaints about it and defend that the sun should be directed only by his particular signfiications in that chart.

anybody who made actual predictions with primary directions actually use this same conception as Morin?

thanks

have had success with both approaches; believe that taken alone both are extreme views.

taking the Sun as an example, have had success in timing actions by the husband by using the Sun in a wife's chart no matter what house the Sun was placed or ruled in the wife's chart.

but let's say mars rules the 7th of the wife's chart and Mars is in the 2nd. directions, transits, etc., can mean disputes over the husband spending money.

would stick to zoller's view that astrology is additive. need to look at the sun and planets in and ruling the 7th for a more complete judgment of the native's spouse.

Hi, Dr H, thanks for your answer.

I think that I will have to try it later. Although several astrologers direct all the planets, I try to stick to the aphetic ones, because I feel that they are from a different breed. Maybe because of this I have been more keen to the universal significations, but I will keep an eye open for accidental significations as well.

best regards and thanks again.

Hi Yuzuru,

In the example I gave with Mars in the 2nd ruling the 7th. Directions of Mars to the ASC or even MC can time disputes over expenses with the spouse. This is what I am saying - can still use the ASC and MC in these situations as the significator - do not need to have Mars-Sun directions to show this kind of thing but certainly Mars-Sun directions can show just that.

To summarize, directions to significators beyond the Sun may still be relevant to the spouse so long as promittors involved in the directions are planets located in or ruling the 7th cusp.

Of course Mars in the 2nd ruling the 7th can also show death of the spouse. Directions of Mars to the MC/IC axis can be relevant to the spouse because the IC is the 10th from the 7th; can show husband's career issues.

Hope this gives some more color.
