Quality and Power

Greetings-
The following was taken from another thread in the Horary section. I think this thinking is a good example of how the two in the topic title relate. Thanks to the Moderator Steven for insights.

The ancients could only imperfectly conceive of what our quantum physics have demonstrated to us today-electricity is one sucn natural quantum mechanic. It doesn't matter how good the quality of a battery is as long as it doesn't have the amperes to use that quality. Let's say you have a 9V battery and with the proper amperage it can power a 100W light bulb. But if the amperes are reduced it may not even power a 40W bulb. The battery quality is the same but if that quality is unable to be used because the amperes which carry that current are too weak, then the quality ultimately is lowered. Do you understand what I am saying? No matter how much dignity a planet may have in the sign it is posited, as long as there is something impeding the current or flow then the final product will be of bad quality; it takes both quality and the power to carry that quality to get a strong result. In the case of this Jupiter it's quality is impeded and not able to power a dim bulb.
while i realize this is in response to a horary inquiry there is a universal relationship between quality and power.
Accidental debilities, cadent placement, retrograde, etc. affect power. Examples?

Hi, Estebon

If you look for it, Steven had already explained this concept elsewhere in the forum...

Masha'allah tells us that if the querents significator is joined favourably with any benefic, then that benefic can resolve the matter. Again as long as it has the quantative power to do so. For these astrologers that quantative power was determined by 1.) sect 2.) phase to the Sun and 3.) accidentally falling in either a cardine or succedent. The essential power of the planet would tell them the quality and 'what kind'. Since Jupiter in the chart, without question has the quantative power; it is the diurnal great benefic in a diurnal chart, direct and oriental of the Sun, and in the cardine of the 7th, then it most certainly can resolve the matter.

Steven explains more about the analogy with electricity.
Let me try and explain this in another way. Electricity has a remarkably accurate analogy to astrology. The principles of electricity involve different factors that produce an effect. Voltage (V) is like the ?essential? dignity of a planet. It describes the quality. There are several type quality batteries. You have 24V, 12V, 9V, and etc. where the voltage describes the quality. Then you have current or amperes (A) that directly influence the output or effect. This is analogous to the phase of a planet with regards to the Sun or its sect etc. The effect of that battery [or planet] is measured by its ability to express its full potential, i.e. seen as the light from a light bulb that is attached [effect or Watts]. A 12V battery with a current of 65 amperes (a typical car battery) will produce 780 Watts (voltage x amperes = watts). That is its maximum potential. Likewise a planet in its domicile (the 12V battery), oriental of the Sun (if a superior planet) and in sect (the optimal 65A current) produces an optimal effect (Watts) that we determine from the essential nature and placement of the planet.
the quote is too large to put in here, but you can read it in the link, 3rd page of the discussion
