Football predictions May 2009

1
May is an extrodinary month. On the one hand there are so many finals, mainly in the Cups. On the other hand, som many league contests have come to an end - and some of the remaining games seem virtually pointless.

Does Leicester, who are ready for the Championship next season, have anything to gain from beating Crewe in today's game? Millwall might feel like saving themselves against Carlisle today, in view of a forthcoming play-off. Carlisle have more to gain from a home victory in there fight to avoid descending to League 1.

Arsenal will be saving themselves against Portsmouth, due to the return match against ManU in the Champions League on firstcoming Tuesday. However, Chelsea will know that Newcastle are flat out against Liverpool on Sunday, and although the chances of Newcastle beating Liverpool at home are slim, Chelsea may be obliged to go for a win today, eyeing the slim possibility of capturing the 2nd place in the Premiership, something that appears to be a theoretical possibility only.

Do such issues influence the outfall of todays matches? If a game relates to a larger context, then surely we should be looking for something that lies beyond the mere event chart?

Middlesbrough - ManU, 12.45 BST
Asc 23LE19 MC 7TA45 Moon 20LE18 POF 1SG25
Day of Saturn, Hour of Mercury - Not radical. Move the result away from the favourite who is ManU? The Sun, L1, is applying to the trine of Saturn, L7. Mercury, Lord of Hour, opposing POF.

It seems very unlikey ManU giving up point in this match from a sporting point of view, unless they forward their reserve team. However, from an astrological perspective - is there any indication of the unexpected? Maybe a draw?

Sir Alex Ferguson, envious of Arsene Wenger being able to rest his players today for Tuesday, said: 'They can play Pat Rice at right-back and Arsene himself at centre-forward on Saturday'.

I wouldn't judge event charts in such cases.

While typing the above, Andrew's latest post has appeared:

ManU cannot afford to field the strongest team today but I don't think there are testimonies strong enough for Boro to upset ManU (hopefully) but of course as always with football, you never know!

Well, the Sporting Life tipster has gone for Fulham to beat Chelsea and Boro to beat ManU. I suppose the big prices are very tempting. The BBC pundit has gone for Portsmouth to beat Arsenal. I don't really think the charts support these outcomes but we shall see.

It will be interesting to see what team Ferguson puts out. With Liverpool hot on their heels, they can't afford to drop points even though they have a game in hand. Boro have beaten ManU at the Riverside in the past and last year it was a 2-2 draw (L1 trine POF).

I don't see anything for Boro in this chart. Yes, it's non-radical but Jupiter sitting on the Desc catches the eye. I think this should swing it for ManU. It's very difficult to imagine them not winning.

Middlesbrough - ManU 0-2
Yes, Ficina, I did see Jupiter on the Descendant, but I wanted to see what the lack of radicality would stand up for. It is possible that one testimony alone does it for the favourite. However, I was looking for soemthing more evident. Hmm... :???:

Birmingham have a difficult but very important away game today against Reading. If they win this one they are ready for the Premiership. All Championship games start at 13.15 BST, so there are few specifics - but the Moon in Virgo (Birmingham) could prove the day to be one of celebration for the blues. So I hope! :)

Sunderland - Everton, 16.00 BST
Asc 26VI49 MC 25GE41 Moon 5VI55 POF 19CP26
Odds: 2,50 3,25 2,70
Day and Hour of the Sun - not radical. Mercury, L10, applies sextile to Venus in the 7th. Venus casts antiscia to the asc, but my bet is with the guests.

My gamble for today. Everton beating Sunderland in the Premiership. Wolves and B'ham winning in the Championship. Total odds 13,39:1. :brows

I agree that Sunderland won't win but had difficulty deciding between a draw and a loss. I could only find one testimony for Everton in the chart, Moon sextile antiscion Jupiter L7. This is very minor but for lack of anything else it could be significant, especially as Sunderland are only marginal faves and there is nothing for them in the chart. Transiting Sun is conjunct Everton's natal Mars. I think this should be enough for them to win, given the disparity between the sides.

I've had a look at the charts for the two key Championship games and they are totally nothingy. So going by 'default outcomes', my suggestion is that Birmingham will draw with Reading, and Sheffield Utd will beat Palace, thereby pipping Brum to the automatic promotion spot.

I agree with everything Ficina wrote about Sunderland-Everton above and the Championship charts being 'totally nothingy' :)

BIRMIINGHAAAAAM! :lala :'

Birmingham advances to the Premiership with Wolves!
How well they perform with the Moon in Virgo!

Reading - B'ham 1-2
Wolves - Doncaster 1-0

Now an Everton victory is all I ask for! 8)

Well done, Andrew :'

I very nearly changed my prediction to a draw, but didn't, so come on Everton! Just the one goal will do :)

OK - Party over! Back to the board!

There is a very interesting chart for this evening:
Bordeaux - Sochaux, 21.00 CST
Asc 12SC36 MC 23LE58 Moon 8VI12 POF 7PI19
Odds: 1,33 4,50 10,00
The Day of the Sun and Hour of the Moon - radical, since the Moon has the same powers as the sign on the ascendant.

Bordeaux are absolute favourites and trailing in 2nd position in the French Le Championnat. Sochaux are struggling to survive. But look at the chart: Sun, L10, is on the 7th and Jupiter is on the IC. The Moon in the 10th is opposite POF (the underdog). I am staying away from this one, but from a technical perspective it is full of exciting details.
