Planetary hours

It could be a good idea to collect any odd ideas regarding planetary hours. planetary days or combinations of the two here. Look also under 'The question of radicality'.

I seem to have a good day on Thursdays. I got both Zenit loosing to Leverkusen and the draw between Getafe and Bayern right yesterday...

This strikes me as odd or curious, because I'm born in the hour of Jupiter. It's like the guy at the desk saying he will take good care of you when he advances to the Head Office.

Any one else?

That's interesting. I was born on the day and in the hour of Saturn (which happens to be the only planet in my chart with any essential dignity). Well, I've always had mixed fortunes on Saturdays - same as any other day really  However, I did place my biggest bet ever, and had my biggest win ever, on a Saturday! That was over a year ago and was definitely a one-off.

What a fascinating article! Thanks, Andrew, I enjoyed reading it very much. I've been meaning to say for a while that I really like the blue background on your site. It's very restful for the eyes :)

Dr. H in the A rectification manual: the american presidency, speaks about that in p. 125: "planetary days and hours"
"The principle that planets have power to act when they rule time filters down to specific days of the week and hours during each day (...) Lincoln?s gabinet meetings were held Tuesdays and Fridays(...)With mars placed in the 11th of political organizations ruled by Venus, the connection between tuesday/friday is obvious(...)
To me this quote opens up a very interesting principle for day-to-day electional astrology.

That's interesting! Is Dr. H an abbreviation?

An interesting explaination of the planetary hours is also found in Coley's 'Key to the whole Art of Astrology', chapter 14, pg 264-273. The hour of the Sun is not considered particularly fortunate. Maybe this has to do with falling into combustion.

Elementary questions: Does the Lord of Hour have 'power to act' or influence event even when the planet is weak? Or being the LOH like an accidental degnity, giving planets some strengths? Does the LOH always have power over the LOA? Or is it relative, depending on their strengths?

I know I've asked some of the questions before but want be clearer about them.

Hi,
no easy answer here.
Planetary hours is used almost only in magical work
I have tried to use the hours to elect very normal and boring stuff (like the best hour to clean the house or start writing things). Sometimes the energy feels "right", but I think is the same feeling of when you decide to start a diet or organize your bookshelves
Now, I have been seeing Andrew discussion about radicality in events charts, and I am trying to see if there is merit in the idea that, though the day, events are modified by the relationship between LoH, LoD and rising sign.

That IS a good question, Gem!! Bravo!! :'
Remind me to buy you a drink some day! :D

I did have a chart where the LHr was detriment and cadent, and where the LHr was in no position to do business, the Lord of the Day DID step in and facilitate business. The Boss can step out from the back-office and take care of affairs when the shop assistance isn't fit to cope.

But you ask whther the Lord of the Hour has the 'power to act'!! Lilly uses the Lord of the hour primarily as a milestone, rather than an active participant. I will have to check this up and give it some thought. The Lord of the hour may describe where the lost goods are to be found, or the distance between the querent and the lost goods. Bearing this in mind, your question may have provided an important clue to understanding planetary hours, what they are and how they work!! We should check this up! :)
