London Government data?

1
London is in election season with elections for the office of Mayor and seats in the London assembly coming up on the 1st of May. I therefore thought it might be interesting to look at charts for these.

Does anyone have timed data for the office of London Mayor and/or the London Assembly?

I have seen data for the old Greater London Council cited as 1st April 1965, 00.00 BST, London, 51 N 30, 00 W10. Asc 30 Scorpio.

However that body was legally abolished by an act of the UK parliament over 20 years ago so I am more interested in the new London government institutions.

So far I have found out the legislation creating these London government bodies was contained in the Greater London Authority Act 1999. This gained royal assent on 11/11/1999.

The first elections for Mayor and GLA took place on 04/05/2000. I therefore assume Ken Livingstone and the new GLA took up office some time on May 5th 2000. Has anyone got any ideas on times for this?

I have managed to find an exact time for the first meetiing of the London Assembly:

Its 2.30pm on Friday 12/05/2000. Westminster, London.

Here are the minutes: http://www.london.gov.uk/assembly/assem ... s12may.pdf

The London Mayoral elections took place on thursday May 4th 2000 and the results seem to have been declared either late in the evening of May 4th or early hours of May 5th. I am still trying to track down an official announcement time.

In any case Ken Livingstone , didn't officially take up full powers as London Mayor until Monday July 3rd 2000.

Its seems reasonable to time the chart for London Mayor from 00.00 hours on that day. I am not aware of any formal ceremony inaugurating the Mayor on that day so I will work on this basis unless anyone has any other information.

Regarding data for the main Mayoral candidates in 2008 Jenni Harte cites a midnight chart for Ken Livingstone, on 17 June 1945 while Caroline Gerard cites 16 June at 22.00. However as double summer time was observed in June 1945 either gives the same chart.

For Boris Johnson we have no time but a date of 19 June 1964. Interestingly for New York City, USA. He had dual nationality until he renounced his US citizenship in 2006.
