Moving to a new job? 1 by Cynthia Osa Hi - I'm new here & to horary astrology which I find fascinating but, sometimes I want to pull my hair out with the apparent contradiction when reading charts since I'm a novice. So, I'll ask you experts here! My boyfriend and I moved up to Alaska last July (first time here for me, he was born here) - he has good job opportunities here but, his old employer is luring him back to New Mexico to be a ski coach again (which my boyfriend would love, it's just not financially viable usually but they're offering him over two times his previous salary) also a cool private school in the same city which is connected to the ski team is expected to make a job offer as well...both combined would indeed lure us back to NM. I think it would be very good if it happened & I'm hoping for it which I think is clouding my judgement. Here's the chart addressing my question as to whether my boyfriend will accept a job in NM. March 16, '08 11:00 am, wasilla, ak. I noticed the 3 degree rising - does this make the chart invalid?...I though it might & did another chart, but the moon's at 3 degrees libra in that one - and that also makes it invalid, no? I'm going to guess the 03/16 chart is valid....it is just past three degrees. Anyway, any help would be great! It would seem a 'job', i.e., 6th is somewhat positive (mars is rising but at detriment), but that Saturn retro in Virgo ruling 10th isn't so good...but, the moon is healthy (right?) - and if you considered Uranus, he rules and sits in the 10th....oh, by the way I use porphyry & would like it considered with that in mind, but I'm ready & willing to hear all insight! I'm wondering if there will end up being a lot of back & forth before a decision is reached....basically, if the price is right or close we're going back to NM. - if it isn't then we're not. OK, hope this wasn't too rambling....thank you! Quote Fri Mar 21, 2008 10:42 pm
2 by Gunhilde HI there, I'd use the first chart. The 3 degree rising doesn't make it invalid to read: what it suggests is that either the situation is still in development and needs further to go, or that you still have a good deal of Free Will in the matter, so it's up to you. The 6th house shouldn't be used for work. Work is the 10th house. Depending on how you asked the question, your boyfriend is probably given the 7th house, in which case you might want to turn the chart and used the turned 10th house (in other words, the radical 4th). I hate turning charts, personally, but sometimes it's a necessary evil. Hope this helps a bit! GH Quote Sat Mar 22, 2008 4:22 pm
3 by Cynthia Osa It does help - I hadn't thought of turning the chart but with my novice status it'd probably drive me a bit bonkers. I realized after I posted this that I'm seriously deficient in this area & my post sounded muddled & confused to my ears....I had read on some astrologers website that the 6th can represent more of being an employee (like a servant) and a job specifically whereas the 10th is more of a career so that's why I looked to the 6th. I think it's a bit hard to ask a question on this issue now because it is too new a development - I asked if he'd accept the job with the assumption a yes assumes the offer would be good and a no would be that their offer wouldn't be tempting enough....in reality who's to say what will happen - maybe he won't take it if it's tempting maybe he will if they offer a handful of raw peanuts! Anyway, thanks for your input...if I'm feeling masochistic maybe I'll turn the chart & torment myself more.... Quote Sat Mar 22, 2008 6:34 pm
4 by Gunhilde The differentiation between 'job' and 'career' is erroneous, IMO. The 6th represents those who work *for* you: servants, workmen, the plumber, those whose services you use, etc. It may represent 'social service' sorts of things, according to some, but the 10th can be seen as how one uses their knowledge: knowledge is 9th, 'profit' from knowledge is 10th: even if that 'knowledge' is how to handle the slopes in Taos or Red River.
