-----------------

I am pleased to announce the fourth installment of the Renaissance
Astrology CD Library series entitled Lots of Lilly!
http://www.renaissanceastrology.com/cdlibrary.html#C2

And that's exactly what it is, over 50 books by and about William
Lilly. It includes his masterpiece, the finest textbook of horary
astrology ever written, Christian Astrology, in both the 1647 1st
edition that is commonly available and the rare 1659 2nd edition.

It also includes goodies like:

* Lilly's Autobiography fascinating insights into Lilly's life and
works by the master himself, highly recommended.

* Bonatti's Astrological Aphorisms 1676 Lilly translated these
aphorisms from Guido Bonatti's Liber Astronomiae. Highly recommended
for guidance in traditional astrology.

* Lilly's Hieroglyphics 1683 contains on page 23 of the pdf, 39 of
the text, the illustration that was the basis of Lilly being said to
have predicted the great Fire of London of 1666.

* Collection of Prophecies 1645 also contains the natal charts for
Archbishop Laud and Thomas, Earl of Stafford, two important English
political figures

* World's Catastrophe 1647 contains the fascinating mundane
historical astrology text Government of the World by Angels by
Trithemius

* Whether His Majesty Shall Suffer Death 1648 correctly predicts
the death of Charles I.

* Dark Year 1652 contains at pdf page 40 and text page 60, forty
useful astrological aphorisms.

* Easy Method of Judging Eclipses 1652 useful treatise on judging
the mundane effects of eclipses.

* England's Prophetical Merlin 1644 contains very detailed natal
chart plus primary directions, and four horary questions on illness, a
trial, theft and love.

* Merlinus Anglicus Junior for 1646 contains 40 horary aphorisms
for illness, the diseases signified by the 12 signs, 50 horary
aphorisms, the physical descriptions of the 12 signs, the natal chart
of Prince Rupert, a key political figure, and an interesting political
horary asking whether to support the King or Parliament.

* Merlini Anglici Ephemeris for 1647 contains translation of the
first half of Centiloquim Ptolomei, the 100 Aphorisms attributed to
Ptolemy.

* Merlini Anglici Ephemeris for 1648 contains translation of the
second half of Centiloquim Ptolomei, the 100 Aphorisms attributed to
Ptolemy plus 38 aphorisms of Hermes.

signification of the planets in the 12 signs.

witchcraft/illness horaries.

Thanks for the notification, Deb!

This looks an amazing compilation of Lilly's key texts and almanacs.

Cross-checking with Christopher's contents listings for Volumes 1-3, copies of which I'm sure many of us here have already bought, shows that the following are duplicated on Volume 4 from earlier volumes:

1. Christian Astrology, 1st Edition 1647 - Already on I
2. Christian Astrology, 2nd Edition 1659 - Already on I
3. Bonatti's Astrological Aphorisms 1676 - Already on II
4. Supernatural Sights 1644 - Already on I
5. Starry Messenger 1645 - Already on II
6. World's Catastrophe 1647 - Already on III
7. Dark Year 1652 - Already on II
8. Easy Method of Judging Eclipses 1652 - Already on II
9. England's Prophetical Merlin for 1644 - Already on III
10-11. Anglicus for 1645 and 1647 - apparently both already on III, though the given titles differ
12-17. Lilly's Almanac for 1663, 1665, 1666, 1668, 1673 and 1683 - already on I

This still leaves the following unique to Volume IV:

1. Prophecy of the White King 1644
2. Collection of Prophecies 1645
3. Lilly's Hieroglyphics 1683
4. Gadbury's Defense of Scorpio
5. Lilly's 1st Scorpio Response
6. Lilly's 2nd Scorpio Response
7. Gadbury's Just Scorpionist
8. Gadbury to Lilly
9. Lilly's Autobiography
10. Whether His Majesty Shall Suffer Death 1648
11. Opinions Touching Monarchy 1660
12. Observations Concerning... (?) 1667
13. Astrology of the Netherlands 1672
14. Predictions Concerning Fires 1676
15-16. Merlinus Anglicus Junior for 1644 and 1646
17. English Ephemeris for 1650
18-36. Merlinus Anglicus Ephemeris for 1648, 1649, 1651, 1652, 1653, 1655, 1656, 1657, 1658, 1659, 1660, 1661, 1667, 1670, 1676, 1677, 1678, 1680 and 1682

If I have made any errors in assuming equivalences where works given slightly different names in the listings for different volumes are in fact different, I trust Christopher will accept my apologies and correct me swiftly!

There is clearly plenty of interest on the new CD that was not included on the earlier ones, and I congratulate Christopher on his tremendous efforts to collect, scan and make available to the astrological community at such low cost these wonderful works. No doubt I'll be ordering a copy of the new compilation early in the new year, along with a copy of Christopher's new book on the lunar mansions (recently reviewed in Skyscript). (I've overspent a little lately on astrology books and may have to wait a month or two, alas.)
