Hi folks,

I'm considering going to university. There's only one course I've found so far that I want to do, so I asked "Should I do this course?", meaning basically is it a good idea, will I enjoy it etc.

Chart is here:
(27th November)

I asked the same question yesterday, but got an even later Asc. than this chart. So I'm sticking with the first one for now.

Late Asc. This could show I've already pretty much made the decision to apply.

Lord 1 is nasty Saturn in Leo, stationed and about to turn retrograde. This could show me changing my mind. However, I don't think I'll change my mind about applying to this course. It could show general ambivalence, as I definitely have mixed feelings about this option (it's 300 miles away, for starters!). The state of Saturn certainly describes my current situation - pretty much stuck in a rut and lonely.

Lord 9 is Mars in Scorpio, with bucketloads of essential dignity. This is good, as it shows the course is of good quality. However, does the course like me? Mars is in no dignities of Saturn, while Saturn is in the term and face of Mars. This shows I have some interest in the course, while the course is not interested in me. I.e. the lecturers won't think I'm fantastic, but neither will they hate me!

What about picking up Lord 1 and dropping it into the 9th, symbolising me going to uni? Well, Saturn has no major dignity in Scorpio, but it's a damn sight better place to be than in detriment in Leo!

What about the Moon, showing my emotions? Here she's in Aquarius, sign and triplicity of Saturn. So, even though I'm in a rubbish state right now, at least I'm looking after myself a bit. She's in the term of Mars and her own face, showing an interest in the course and also a little bit of strength.

However, the Moon is just separating from opposition to Lord 1. This could show a head/heart split.

And if we pick up the Moon and drop it into the 9th house, she's in fall. This would show emotional upset, especially given the strong Mars, which was a good thing (above), but in a natural rulerships sense would not bode well for the sensitive Moon. I don't like the look of this! But as the Moon is a general significator, can we ignore this nasty indication? (Probably not!) Perhaps this shows the emotional pain of moving so far away from home.

I notice Jupiter at 00 Sag. The MC is at 04 Sag. Can we consider this Jupiter to be in the 9th? As in, can I take this Jupiter to show that after initial problems (strong Mars), I'll reap some benefits (strong Jupiter)? There's the question of timing this: we take the 9th cusp to show the start of the course, obviously, then move through the 9th house to show how things change over time. But now we're back to the age-old question of timing from a horary chart, and how long a chart is valid for or can predict for.

The 9th cusp is at 17 Scorpio, MC at 4 Sag, giving us around 15 degrees to show either the first year, or the whole three years. Either way, it looks like the first two-thirds are dominated by Mars/Scorpio, i.e. problems, difficulties. This could of course just show the immense workload I'll be under!

But then we get Jupiter. Even if he's more to do with the 10th than the 9th, as Lord 10 he shows the benefits of doing the course, i.e. the career opportunities I'll get from it. I think I'd be happy coping with a bit of Mars to get a strong Jupiter for my career at the end of the day!

Aspects: I notice the Moon separates from having squared Mars (the course) and translating its light to Saturn (me), which I take to show the fact that I visited the uni and had an interview the week before asking the question.

How about Saturn turning retrograde, hastening to remake the square with Mars? Could this show I do change my mind? Or that I'll find out some more information about it that'll change my mind?

NB - I realise I haven't asked "Will I get the place?", as I'm assuming I will. I really hope this retrograde square doesn't show me failing to get a place!!

Other stuff: Angular Sun on MC. Saturn in Leo is very interested in the Sun: I think we can take this to show general "honour and preferment", i.e. the worldly success and achievement I secretly, or not so secretly crave! This would explain the Lord 1/Moon opposition, (head/heart split above), as part of me wants to get out into the world and do things, while part of me just wants to retreat and stay out of society completely.

Mercury on 9th cusp: Peregrine, as Lord 5, I take Mercury to show the pressure I'll be under to socialise and drink (I'm not a drinker!). As he's Lord 4 as well, he perhaps shows homesickness affecting my studies.

Overall this chart says to me, this course isn't perfect. It looks like I'd be better off there, but it won't be totally fantastic. And the Moon thing bothers me. I don't want to be totally miserable for two years.

However, the strong Lord 10 is definitely tempting me to take the bad with the good, as it's a practical degree that would almost certainly get me a very good career.

Anyone have any thoughts? Bits I've missed?

Keren, I think you are overeading your own chart...
Mars is applying to saturn by square. There is a little reception. Things will come to pass and you will probably go into this course. There will be a lot of troubles, worries, maybe some conflicts. The reception will minime some of the problems but not all of them. You will probably like it after some time.

I also think Mercury, ruling final outcomes, is getting ready to change signs. I think this means you will find ultimate intellectual satisfaction from the course. It may also show the move actually taking place, as mercury goes from the house of your anxieties to the 9th of higher learning. Take the chance.

Probably, yes, I'm guilty of over-reading it, as I am thinking about my choices a lot!

Thanks for your comments both.
