Lilly?s table (shown here) doesn?t make any reference to a planet being stationary. If it is exactly stationary it wouldn?t lose 5 points for being retrograde - but there is a loss of dignity because it wouldn?t gain 4 points for being direct either. It would lose 2 points for being slow in motion ? making a total of 6 points lost as opposed to the 11 points lost by a planet that has just turned retrograde.

As ever, common sense should be allowed to override the numerical score. Stationary planets, if they are debilitating, are often said to have potential to cause damage. Olivia Barclay described them as like a cat waiting to pounce.
