Work vs consulting - question on signifiers 1 by AnnieGoLightly I?m hoping for some help identifying the technical approach to a chart. I was asked the question: ?which would give me greater flexibility and the better working environment ? consulting or a traditional employee role? The question has been asked by someone who has moved from a traditional employee role into freelance consulting. Whist he is enjoying the consulting, he is not enjoying the additional responsibility and work load associated with running his own business. Chart Data Friday, 16 September 2005 2:11pm EST Adelaide, Australia, 138E55 34S55 Asc Capricorn. Firstly, I realise the moon is VOC in this question, but I wish to understand technically how I should approach a judgement. In identifying ?Traditional Employment Role? I nominate the 10th and for ?Consulting? the 7th. The question is what do I do with this? Unlike a work vs study question, I can?t pick up the querent?s signifier and drop it into the relevant house, as the signifier will always be in the sign of its detriment in the 7th. So, would I simply identify which of the signifiers - 10th & 7th ? have the greatest dignity and go from there? I also accept that a secondary consideration is the income generated by each of these options. If I apply the above, then the ruler of the 10th is Venus, fall positioned in the 10th and the 7th is Sun, peregrine positioned in the 8th. Venus has greater accidental dignity, but shocking essential dignity, however, Spica is also conjunct the MC (Orb 2o). The Sun is peregrine with only moderate accidental dignity. Rulers of the respective money houses show that the traditional option gives the best income ? Jupiter ruler of 11th (2nd from 10th), in Libra, conjunct both MC and Spica. Ruler of the 8th (2nd from 7th) is also the sun ? dignity already given. So the 10th ? traditional employment ? has greater dignity Both Venus and Jupiter are in the exaltation of Saturn (querent) and Saturn receives Jupiter by Triplicity Term & Face, but doesn?t receive Venus. Once the moon changes sign in 3o, it will be in the exaltation of Venus, however Venus receives the moon into its detriment. The ruler of the 7th, the sun, and is in the Triplicity of the moon and the Terms of Saturn. There is no reception with Saturn. Indicating that the querent would be happier consulting? Although probably happiest if already retired! Using this approach, I would deem that whilst the traditional role may offer greater job security and income and be a logical choice, emotionally it comes at a price. Therefore, if happiness ? ie emotional wellbeing is the greatest consideration, then the consulting role gives the flexibility and freedom (ie happiness) best suited to the querent? Any guidance, input greatly appreciated. Regards Ann Ann Quote Mon Sep 19, 2005 4:54 am
2 by yuzuru Hello, Annie. First of all, you should see that there are a lot of considerations before judgement in this chart pointing out that the astrologer will have his judgment disturbed: moon void of course, saturn in the 7th, and ruler of the 7th cadent. I am tempted to judge the two options of work by venus and mars, as scorpio is intercepted in the 10th house, and venus and mars are in mutual reception by rulership and triplicity. It is a little confusing by now, but I will give a little try Yuzuru Quote Wed Sep 21, 2005 5:17 am
