The reigning current authority on harmonic charts is David Hamblin. He has three books. I have the first two. The third book is Harmonic Astrology in Practice, 2019.

Harmonic Charts: A New Dimension in Astrology, the Aquarian Press, 1983.
The Fifth Harmonic Chart: pp. 47-63.

The Spirit of Numbers: A New Exploration of Harmonic Astrology, Wessex, 2011.
Chapter 7: Fiveness: pp. 81-103

Many example charts in these books. I think the later Spirit book is the most interesting, but I haven't seen Hamblin's third book.

Then there are John Addey's books who popularized the concept of harmonics in the first place. But David Hamblin is probably more complete and up-to-date.

I don't know if it's still in print, but I like Michael Harding and Charles Harvey, Working With Astrology: The Psychology of Midpoints, Harmonics and Astrocartography.

An interesting on-line article is: https://aliceportman.com/quintiles/

Someone else who's worked a lot with minor aspects and harmonics is David Cochrane. See his Astrology for the 21st Century and many YouTube lectures.

Yes Waybread, just finished reading this book and when I read Harvey’s 12th Chapter on the 5th Harmonic, I calculated my 5TH & 25TH Harmonic Charts for the first time in my 40 years of studying astrology, and these two charts were a revelation to me for their rich symbolism explaining certain WHYS for my life. Thanks for your confirmation for this book for I know you are an astute student of Astrology.

Thank you, Steve.

I really like H & H's approach to working with harmonics. Harmonics are a valuable tool to seeing what motivates people, especially those who "march to the beat of a different drummer."

I think people with sun quintile Pluto really show a lot of ambition. If the second house is involved, they want to make a lot of money. Like, a lot of money.

I have just one quintile, sun Q ascendant, but a strong 20H (5 x 4). Kind of scary. I read my quintile as wanting to make something (quintile) of myself (sun, ascendant.)

I'd be curious to learn what you're finding.

Waybread, I was born in a very small town in Alabama and became enthralled with the study of Astrology around 30 years of age and basically self-taught myself astrology with books which crossed my path. Based on the environment I was born unto, I never could understand why I had this inner urge to study astrology until recently I calculated my 5th & 25th Harmonic Charts and saw the strong aspects of Mercury-Uranus (partile 180 in the 5th Harmonic and a partile Me/Ur = Jup in the 25th Harmonic. I was stunned to see these strong aspected signatures in the 5H/25H charts, which for the first time in my life explains to me why astrology resonates so strongly in my life, its my "soul of the soul" aspect.

I have just started a thread about my recent discoveries here:

Hi, Steve--

I had a similar experience when I first picked up astrology in my early 40s. I just had to study it-- despite the fact that I was an academic and if anyone announced what I was learning, it would have discredited not only me but my entire department. Basically I wanted to find out why I was on the planet. I never did get the answer, but I learned a lot of astrology in the process.

(MC in Gemini conjunct Uranus trine Aquarian sun, Mercury in Aquarius here.)

The apple has a lot of symbolism. So does the rose, which in its wild and early cultivated varieties has 5 petals. Both are members of the Rosaceae plant family.

You are probably familiar with this pattern of the earth and Venus geocentric orbit curves: https://www.sciencealert.com/the-celest ... ough-space as well as symbolic uses of pentagrams and pentangles. The human body with its head, outstretched arms and legs arguably is a 5-pointed symbol, and then there's the hand.

I think the quintile represents talent plus the ambition to manifest it. In modern astrology, I see it as a major aspect. The talent may express itself in ordinary ways, but probably shows an area where the person feels compelled to excel.

I absolutely agree Waybread, beautifully expressed. I am in a discussion on another forum about the quintile series of aspects and will definitely quote your words Waybread. And yes, I had forgotten about Venus orbit dance with the earth pertaining to the pentagram. Thanks so much for your feedback Waybread.
