Astro data bank only gives approximate time as "three hours after mother left the theatre". https://www.astro.com/astro-databank/Poe,_Edgar_Allan

So this is only a guessed time.

The Moons Nodes conjunct the Ascendant would mark him for potential fame, and he was well known enough for the great poet Charles Baudelaire to translate his works into French. This would also make his Ascendant and its 1 degree orb hard aspects "closed", that is Chiron Uranus Mercury Sun Saturn and Pluto.

This gives a Midheaven of 17 degrees Leo, which aspects the Moon, Venus, and Neptune. Women were an important part of Poe's life, from his adoptive mother, Frances Allan, to his aunt and his cousin, Virginia Clemm, who he married, reflecting the Venus conjunct Moon in Pisces aspecting Neptune.

Transiting IsisTranspluto would have affected his Moons Nodes from about 7 degrees Taurus 19 minutes in August 1810. Then IsisTranspluto would have been one degree past his Uranus at 10 degrees Taurus 24 minutes in February 1816. This would have also affected his Mercury, Sun and Saturn, which aspect this area, and his life seems to have had some good education at good schools at this time, as his adoptive father John Allan was a wealthy tobacco merchant. Compared with my English ancestors born around this time, this was literacy education to die for! Way beyond its time. Uranus and Chiron, as well as Saturn, Pluto and the Moons Nodes, would have come through his Mercury, which is his literacy well beyond what most people at that time received.

The transit of IsisTranspluto to the antiscion of Uranus, at 20 degrees Taurus 36 minutes was in July 1825, and one degree applying in July 1824, and its transit to the antiscion of the Moons Nodes, 21 degrees Taurus 47 minutes, one degree separating at 22 degrees Taurus 47 minutes was in February 1830.

I think this pair of transits of IsisTranspluto to this area of his chart was significant especially for his Mercury, his literary talent. Transits of IsisTranspluto in themselves may need to be triggered by other outer and middle planetary transits.

What really struck me was the transits for his time of death, which do seem to be aspecting this same area, using Mercury at 28 degrees Capricorn 38 minutes, its antiscion is 1 degree Sagittarius 22 minutes, and transiting IsisTranspluto was at 0 degrees Sagittarius 22 minutes, one degree applying, from July 1837. Poe died on 7th October 1849 at 5am in Baltimore. Pluto was 28 degrees Aries 09 minutes, retrograde, and Neptune 2 degrees Pisces 24 minutes, retrograde. The combined transit of Pluto and Neptune seems to be the main trigger for the previous transit of IsisTranspluto. At his time of death also the Moon's North Node was 0 degrees Virgo 45 minutes and transiting Mercury 8 degrees Scorpio 05 minutes, crossing his natal Ascendant pattern? Maybe for some time the same Mercury pattern in his chart which had been beneficially transited by the first pair of IsisTranspluto transits, had been negatively transited by IsisTranspluto in early Gemini, and the Pluto Neptune transits at his time of death were the biggest trigger for that previous IsisTranspluto transit? As his Moons Nodes are involved in this Mercury pattern, had he offended somebody in the literary world?

Though IsisTranspluto at his time of death was 10 degrees Gemini, having just stationed to go retrograde at 10 degrees Gemini 12 minutes on September 12th 1849, and transiting Jupiter was 11 degrees Virgo 59 minutes. His natal Mars was 18 degrees Libra 36 minutes, antiscion 11 degrees Pisces 24 minutes. I consider his natal Mars' antiscion to be too widely orbed to be a conjuntion with his Venus and Moon, and thus not really aspected to anything else in his chart. Though his natal Moon at 9 degrees Pisces 47 minutes is a moot point if it could be considered to be conjunct his Mars' antiscion, and if these transits at his death were relevant?

Hi Fleur
Thanks for an interesting analyses of Edgar Allan Poe's chart, I noticed the sun mercury cazimi if transcribed into sidereal falls on the forehead of the goat which Rumen Kolev has linked to the inverted pentagram of Baphomet & dark powers which is what Poe mostly wrote about.Just an observation.

Heavy, heavy drinker. Much has been said about him getting caught in the drunken treadmill of voters, beaten, plied with liquor, and forced back to the polls again & again. There's your violence (Mars).

Far as Gemini, all that coming and going. Writers had (in times past), more than have, a penchant for alcoholism, so loose, alcohol-fueled antagonisms could certainly have flown easily enough.

His demise was to have been the result of vicious beatings, though there still seems to be a large, dark cloud over the whole matter. Obscured, no doubt, by the political bosses of the day. Not much changes.

I rectified his chart to 02.52.54 LMT Asc 25Sco24’
No doubt that he has Scorpio rising, but it seems that Virgo on MC and Pisces on IC is more appropriate than Leo on MC.
Neptune rising is square MC-alcoholism
Helio Mars in opposition to Pluto close to MC- IC axis describe well his miserable life.
MC in exact opposition to Venus and Moon, trine helio Venus.
Mercury sextile Asc and because of his cazimi Mercury, helio Mercury is also sextile Asc.
His mysterious death reflected well in the various solar returns:
In the solar return, Neptune on Desc
In the solar return, precession corrected, Neptune on Asc
In the converse solar return Neptune again on Desc
In the converse solar return, precession corrected, Neptune on Asc.
