I would need to consult his book again but I seem to recall the western siderealist Rupert Gleadow in his book 'The Origin of the Zodiac' (1969) suggested some people practised tropical astrology in India. Moreover, Gleadow may have been the first author to suggest there were traces of tropical astrology in the writings of Varahmihira. A thought that would later be independently argued by others. I recall, we used to have a member here from Pakistan who mentioned that he learned tropical astrology from his teacher there. If I remember correctly he discussed the 'Turkic' tradition influenced by later Perso-Arabic sources.
